Bilobil 40 mg, 60 capsules, Krka

Indications:
Bilobil contains a dry, refined and quantified extract of Ginkgo biloba leaf. The active substances in the extract are flavone glycosides, ginkgolides and bilobalides. They dilate blood vessels, improve blood circulation, prevent platelet aggregation and thus improve blood circulation and increase oxygen and glucose supply. By regulating metabolism, they protect cells and tissues from damage caused by lack of oxygen. Ginkgo leaf extract is effective in blood circulation disorders in the brain.

Bilobil improves blood circulation in the brain and metabolism and prevents the decline of intellectual capacity.

Bilobil is recommended for the symptomatic treatment of:
- memory deficit, concentration disorders;
- pathological cognitive deficit in elderly patients;
- depressive emotional states.

Composition:
The active substance is the standardized dry extract of ginkgo leaf. Each capsule contains 40 mg of standardized dry extract of Ginkgo biloba L. leaf (35-67:1), corresponding to:
- flavonoids 8.8-10.8 mg, in the form of flavone glycosides,
- ginkgolide A, B, C 1.12-1.36 mg and
- bilobalide 1.04-1.28 mg.
Extraction solvent: acetone 60% (m/m).

The other ingredients are: lactose monohydrate, colloidal anhydrous silica, maize starch, magnesium stearate and talc, in the capsule contents; titanium dioxide (E 171), red iron oxide (E 172), azorubine (E 122), gelatin, black iron oxide (E 172) and indigotine (E 132), in the capsule. Another ingredient in the herbal preparation is liquid glucose, spray-dried.

Method of administration:
Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
The recommended daily dose for adults and the elderly is one Bilobil 40 mg capsule (corresponding to 40 mg of dry extract from Ginkgo biloba leaf) 3 times a day.
Bilobil 40 mg capsules should be swallowed whole, after a meal, with a glass of water.

Duration of treatment:
The first signs of improvement are usually observed after 4 weeks of treatment. Treatment should be continued for at least 12 weeks. If there is no improvement after 3 months of treatment or if symptoms worsen, a doctor should be consulted to determine whether treatment should be continued.

Contraindications:
Before taking Bilobil, consult your doctor or pharmacist before starting treatment with Bilobil, it must be established whether your symptoms are not a consequence of another disease that requires specific treatment.
If symptoms worsen during treatment with Bilobil, you should contact your doctor or pharmacist.

If you have an increased tendency to bleed (hemorrhagic diathesis) or are being treated with medications that prevent blood clotting, you can take Bilobil only on the recommendation of your doctor.

Due to the possible effect on blood clotting of medicines containing ginkgo, treatment with Bilobil is not recommended before surgery or in patients at risk of cerebral hemorrhage.

Patients with a history of seizures or epilepsy should avoid medications containing ginkgo, as they may cause seizures.

Bilobil is not recommended if you are taking efavirenz (a medicine for the treatment of HIV infection).

Special warnings:
Pregnancy and breastfeeding:
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

There are no known adverse effects of Ginkgo biloba extract on the fetus. An increased tendency to bleed may occur.

Due to insufficient data, Bilobil is not recommended for pregnant women.

Due to insufficient safety data, Bilobil is not recommended for breastfeeding women.

Driving and using machines:
It does not affect the ability to drive and use machines.
