Psyllium refers to the seed packets of plantain (Plantago ovata). Psyllium is a de facto soluble fiber that has a unique ability to absorb water, gain significant bulk, and form a gel-like structure that benefits the intestines by softening stool and increasing its bulk. This helps with proper and easy emptying.

The density of the stool can be adjusted with psyllium depending on the volume of liquid added. A larger volume of fluid added helps with constipation, while a smaller amount adjusts very soft stools.

Recommended dose and method of use:

• In the morning or evening, mix 1-2 teaspoons (2.5-5 g) of Psyllium in 250 ml of water (can be flavored) and drink well with another cup of liquid - water, herbal tea, fruit juice, etc.
• It is best to take it on an empty stomach at least 30 minutes before a meal
• The maximum daily dose is 5 teaspoons, i.e. 12.5 g. Psyllium can also be used in soups, sauces, yogurts, as part of muesli, etc.
