Fasconal is an analgesic used for the short-term symptomatic treatment of pain of moderate to severe intensity, with different locations: headache, migraine, neuralgia (pain along the path of a nerve), myalgia (muscle pain), arthralgia (joint pain), dental or ENT pain, dysmenorrhea (menstruation accompanied by pain) and the treatment of febrile conditions.

Fasconal contains a combination of four active substances: acetylsalicylic acid, paracetamol, codeine and caffeine.

Method of administration:

• Adults and adolescents over 15 years of age - 1 tablet as needed; if necessary, the dose can be repeated every 6 hours
• Do not take more than 4 Fasconal tablets in a 24-hour period
• Always use Fasconal exactly as your doctor has told you
• You should talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure
• This medicine should not be taken for more than 3 days
• If the pain does not improve after 3 days, see your doctor for advice
• Tablets should be swallowed whole with sufficient liquid.

Composition:

• The active substances are acetylsalicylic acid, paracetamol, caffeine and codeine
• Each tablet contains acetylsalicylic acid 200 mg, paracetamol 200 mg, caffeine anhydrous 25 mg and codeine phosphate hemihydrate 10 mg
• The other components are corn starch, microcrystalline cellulose type 101, colloidal anhydrous silicon dioxide, pregelatinized starch, talc, sodium stearyl fumarate.

Cautions:

• This medicine contains codeine, which can be addictive if you take it continuously for more than 3 days
• If you take a pain medicine for more than 3 days, it may become stronger
• This medicine is only recommended for adults and children over 15 years of age
• Not everyone can take this medicine and it is recommended that you consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

Precautions:

Before taking Fasconal, ask your doctor or pharmacist because it contains acetylsalicylic acid

• if you have bronchial asthma, other allergic respiratory conditions or hypersensitivity to anti-inflammatory analgesics
• if you have had digestive bleeding in the past
• if you suffer from gout, as it contains the paracetamol-codeine-caffeine combination
• if you frequently drink large amounts of alcohol
• if you suffer from liver disease, including viral hepatitis
• in case of kidney problems and if you are on dialysis.

Special warnings:

Pregnancy and breast-feeding:

• If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. Fasconal is contraindicated during pregnancy
• Do not take Fasconal while breastfeeding. Codeine and morphine pass into breast milk.

Driving and using machines:

• Fasconal has a major influence on the ability to drive or use machines. Therefore, it is contraindicated in people who drive vehicles or use machines.
