Venoruton

Venoruton is available in several forms tailored to the needs of users: capsules, tablets and topical gel.

Venoruton capsules contain 300 mg of oxerutin per capsule, and Venoruton forte tablets contain 500 mg of oxerutin, both for oral administration. Venoruton gel 2% is intended for topical application and comes in 40 g or 100 g bottles.

Venoruton is indicated for the treatment of chronic venous insufficiency (CVI), manifested by symptoms such as oedema, pain, heaviness and fatigue in the lower limbs.

It is also used to relieve symptoms associated with haemorrhoids, such as itching, bleeding and perianal swelling.

In cases of lymphoedema, Venoruton helps to reduce oedema, and in patients with diabetic retinopathy, it reduces capillary permeability in the retina.

300 mg capsules - The recommended initial dose is 1 capsule taken 2-3 times a day. After symptoms have improved, a maintenance dose of 600 mg per day, taken in two or three doses, may be continued. If symptoms do not improve within 2 weeks, treatment should be re-evaluated.

2% gel - Apply locally twice a day, massaging gently until completely absorbed. The gel can be used under occlusive dressings or graduated compression stockings, if necessary.

Venoruton is contraindicated in people with known hypersensitivity to oxerutin or any of the product's excipients.

It is also not recommended during the first trimester of pregnancy or in children due to a lack of data on safety and efficacy in these groups.

Important! Before starting treatment with Venoruton, a medical evaluation is essential to rule out oedema caused by heart, kidney or liver disease, as the drug is not effective in these conditions.

Patients are advised to wear graduated compression stockings in cases of chronic venous insufficiency to enhance the therapeutic effects of the drug.

Side effects associated with Venoruton are generally rare and mild. They may include gastrointestinal disorders (flatulence, diarrhoea, dyspepsia), pruritus or skin rashes.

In very rare cases, severe allergic reactions may occur, manifested by breathing difficulties, swelling of the face or tongue, and intense itching. In such situations, treatment should be discontinued immediately and emergency medical assistance should be sought.

To date, no significant interactions between Venoruton and other medicines or food have been reported. However, it is recommended that you inform your doctor or pharmacist about all medicines you are taking, including those obtained without a prescription, to avoid possible unexpected interactions.

If a higher dose than recommended is taken, severe toxic effects are unlikely due to the safety profile of oxerutin.

However, in case of accidental ingestion of large amounts, it is recommended to consult a doctor immediately for appropriate assessment and monitoring.

Venoruton should be stored in its original packaging, away from moisture and at temperatures below 25°C. Keep out of the reach and sight of children. Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the packaging.
