Reishi and ling zhi are two different names for the same type of mushroom. While "Reishi" is a Japanese name, "ling zhi" is used in Chinese. Reishi has been used in China and Japan for many millennia. Reishi ( Ganoderma lucidum ) is a wood-destroying fungus that grows on dead trees or stumps. In traditional China, Reishi was considered so rare that it was reserved only for the imperial family. Reishi contains a wide range of bioactive compounds. These include essential amino acids, B vitamins, minerals such as selenium and iron, germanium, polysaccharides, triterpenes and more.
