Description
Calcium with Vitamin C 1000 mg, 10 tablets, Sandoz
Calcium and vitamin C deficiency.
Increased need for calcium and vitamin C (for example, during pregnancy and lactation, in children during periods of rapid growth, in the elderly, during infectious diseases and convalescence).
Adjuvant in cold and flu.
Action:
- Calcium is an essential mineral required to maintain the electrolyte balance of the body and for the normal functioning of numerous regulatory mechanisms
- Calcium deficiency is associated with neuromuscular disorders and bone demineralization
- Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) plays an important role in biological redox processes and cellular respiration
- It is also essential for collagen formation and tissue repair
- High doses of vitamin C are effective for the prophylaxis and treatment of upper respiratory tract infections
- Calcium and ascorbic acid deficiency may be due to nutritional deficiencies or may occur in various situations where the body's needs are increased (see indications)
- The effervescent tablets provide vitamin C and ionizable calcium in sufficient quantity to cover daily needs in periods when they are increased.
Composition:
Effervescent tablets (orange or lemon flavored) containing: 1.0 g calcium lactate-gluconate equivalent to 260 mg ionizable calcium; 0.327 g of calcium carbonate; 1.0 g of ascorbic acid (vitamin C); 1.0 g sodium bicarbonate (274 mg sodium); 2.0 g of sugar.
How to use:
- Adults and school-aged children: 1 effervescent tablet per day
- Children between 3 and 7 years: half an effervescent tablet per day
- Small children: according to medical prescription.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to the drug, hypercalcemia, severe hypercalciuria, severe renal failure.
Precautions:
- In patients with moderate hypercalciuria (over 300 mg - 7.5 millimoles/24 hours), with mild or moderate renal insufficiency or with a history of renal lithiasis, it is necessary to monitor urinary calcium excretion
- If necessary, the dose will be reduced or the treatment will be stopped
- In patients who have a tendency to form kidney stones, it is recommended to ingest larger amounts of liquids
- During treatment, large doses of vitamin D should be avoided, unless there are special indications
- In diabetic patients, the sugar content of the tablets (2 g/tablet) will be taken into account, and sodium (0.27 g/tablet) will also be included in the calculations for patients requiring a sodium-free diet.
Interactions:
- Calcium may reduce the absorption of orally administered tetracyclines
- An interval of at least 3 hours should be kept between the administration of Ca-C 1000 Sandoz and that of oral tetracyclines
- High doses of ascorbic acid can interfere with some methods of determining urinary glucose.
Adverse reactions:
- Mild gastrointestinal disturbances (bloating, diarrhea) are rarely observed
- In predisposed patients, prolonged treatment with Ca-C 1000 Sandoz may favor the formation of stones in the urinary tract.
Overdose:
- There are no known cases of acute overdose
- If such a situation were to occur, the manifestations would consist of gastrointestinal disturbances, but would not result in hypercalcemia, except in patients who are treated with high doses of vitamin D.
