Nomigren 12.5 mg is an anti-migraine drug containing the active substance almotriptan. It has an analgesic effect and is intended for emergency treatment of headaches with acute migraine attacks with or without aura.

Migraine – what is it?

Migraine manifests itself as a moderate or severe headache that affects one side, is throbbing and worsens with physical activity. The pain is accompanied by at least one of the following symptoms:

• nausea,
• vomiting,
• hypersensitivity to light, sounds or smells.

Migraine pain may be preceded by certain symptoms, such as: deterioration of mood, nervousness, anxiety or lack of appetite. Some people may experience the so-called aura, i.e. transient visual disturbances with the impression of flashes of light, flickering spots or lines of light.

Nomigren contains 12.5 mg of the active substance almotriptan, a selective agonist of 5-HT1B and 5-HT1D serotonin receptors. The active substance binds to serotonin receptors in blood vessels in the brain, causing them to constrict, which reduces the inflammatory response associated with migraines.

The tablet should be taken as soon as possible after the onset of a migraine attack. Do not take more than one tablet during the same attack.
