Stone Lichen Tea, 50 g, Stef Mar Valcea
Stone lichen is part of the class Ascomycetes, family Parmeliaceae, being a plant without root, stem and leaves. Its body is a thallus in the form of a small bush, which has lobes divided into two, twisted and edged with thick and stiff cilia. The color varies from gray-green to black-brown on the upper side, being whitish on the lower side and reddish where it sticks to the ground. It can survive in environments too harsh for higher plants, provided that the humidity is high enough and the temperature low enough, being dependent on air humidity to a greater extent than that of the soil, so that it can tolerate sandy, inhospitable soils, in high altitude areas. It grows on the rocks and plateaus in the alpine and subalpine areas, in most of the northern countries, as well as in our country. It is also called curly moss, mountain moss, stone moss, Iceland lichen.
CHEMICAL COMPOSITION:
mucilages, water-soluble polyholosides (lichenin and isolichenin), lichenic acids (cetraric, protocetraric, protolichenstearic, usnic), friedelin, volatile oil, iodine, vitamins (A and B), etc.
Actions:
expectorant, antitussive, emollient, anti-inflammatory, possesses antibiotic properties especially against Mycobacterium tuberculosis, stimulant of bile and pancreatic secretions, stomachic, gastric dressing, antiemetic, antitumor, stimulates appetite. Indications: it is used as an adjuvant in: acute and chronic bronchitis, tracheobronchitis, laryngitis, bronchial asthma, flu, pulmonary tuberculosis, pancreatic insufficiency, chronic pancreatitis, biliary dyskinesia, difficult digestion, hyperacid gastritis, gastric ulcer, motion sickness, vomiting states , vomiting that occurs in pregnancy, tumors of the digestive tube, anorexia.
Administration method:
- the powder
- the plant is finely ground with an electric grinder. Take a grated teaspoon 4 times a day, on an empty stomach. The powder is kept under the tongue for 10-15 minutes, after which it is swallowed with water.
- cold maceration
- prepare from a spoonful of herb added to 250ml of water, keep for 6-8 hours at room temperature, then strain and drink on an empty stomach. For therapeutic purposes, drink 3 cups of macerated per day, every 30 minutes. before meals.
- the infusion
- it is prepared from a spoonful of herb added to 250ml of boiling water, kept for 15 min. at room temperature, then strain and drink on an empty stomach. For therapeutic purposes, drink 3 cups of infusion per day, every 30 minutes. before meals.
Contraindications:
Allergy to stone lichen.
