The boy with a butterfly wing, Macoveiciuc, Urban Princess, DPH
The third book for children by the author of the bestsellers I love you, whatever you do and Mommy, are you ready?, Ioana Chicet-Macoveiciuc, is a fantasy about the life of a different child. David is a boy who was born with a butterfly wing instead of a right hand. His parents take him to doctors and specialists, but seeing that he is happy with his butterfly wing, they decide to leave him alone. Although he can't clap and climb like other children, David is very happy with his butterfly wing. He dreams of flying, has many friends, is loved and trusts people. The most powerful scene in the book is the one where an older boy laughs at him in the park. But David manages to turn the tense situation into a lesson in acceptance and the threatening character into a friend.
A very optimistic book, with masterful illustrations by Lavinia Trifan Pop, who also illustrated the author's first two books.
A necessary book in a country with many special children and with many prejudices towards them. A wonderful metaphor about self-confidence and a necessary tool for all parents to understand what is happening in the soul of a different child.
You have before your eyes a warm story about love, acceptance and friendship. The fact that the boy has a wing instead of a hand is not a defect, but an extraordinary resource, an opportunity to grow, not only for him, but also for those around him. Flight is a very beautiful metaphor of self-confidence, self-transcendence, development and success.

I wrote this tender story about a different boy because I believe that we are all different in all kinds of ways. Some of us are shy. Others cannot cry. Others are afraid of dogs. Some don't want to sleep. I, for example, can't stand cucumbers. But we all want the same thing: to be loved. David, the boy with the butterfly wing, is a brave, happy little man, who understood something very important about life: that it is beautiful if you know how to receive it with love.
I really want this book to heal and help you to enjoy yourself, life, butterflies and, maybe, why not, cucumbers too!
