Diclofenac gel 1%, 45 g, Terapia
Read the leaflet carefully and completely before you start using this medicine, because it contains important information for you. Always use this medicine as directed in this leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.
- Therapeutic action: topical non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
- Conditions: inflammatory conditions and trauma of tendons, ligaments, muscles and joints, postoperative and post-traumatic edema.
Composition:
- 100 g of gel contain diclofenac sodium 1g and excipients: ethanol, propylene glycol, trolamine, carbopol 940, methyl p-hydroxybenzoate, purified water.
- Pharmacotherapeutic group: nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for topical use.
Therapeutic indications:
- Inflammatory conditions and trauma of tendons, ligaments, muscles and joints. Postoperative and posttraumatic edema.
Contraindications:
- hypersensitivity to diclofenac, to other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or to any of the excipients of the product; skin lesions, such as: eczema, infected lesions, burns, wounds; third trimester of pregnancy.
Precautions:
- The product should not be applied to mucous membranes, especially at eye level. The appearance of a skin rash after the application of Diclofenac Gel 1%, requires the immediate interruption of the treatment.
- Interactions- Due to the low systemic absorption of Diclofenac Gel 1%, when used as recommended, drug interactions are unlikely to occur.
Special warnings:
- Children - The product is administered only to adults, due to the absence of safety studies in children.
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding - The product is administered during the first 5 months of pregnancy only if absolutely necessary; starting from the 6th month, its use is contraindicated, due to the risk of fetal cardiopulmonary toxicity, determined by its eventual marked systemic absorption, in case of administration in large doses, applied frequently and for a long time. In the case of other routes of administration, NSAIDs are excreted in breast milk. By extrapolation and as a precautionary measure, it is recommended to avoid the use of Diclofenac Gel 1% in breastfeeding women. Ability to drive vehicles or use machinery. Diclofenac Gel 1% does not influence the ability to drive vehicles or use machines.
Side effects:
- Local reactions: rarely, itchy skin allergic manifestations or localized erythema appear.
- Hypersensitivity reactions: dermatological; respiratory: asthma attacks occur very rarely, especially in patients with hypersensitivity to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs); general: very rare anaphylactic type reactions and in case of increased skin absorption. Other common NSAID systemic side effects (eg: digestive and renal) may occur depending on the increased skin absorption of the active substance, the large amount of gel applied, the wide area of application, the presence of skin lesions, the long duration of treatment and the use of occlusive dressings.
- Overdose- In the case of administration of Diclofenac Gel 1%, overdose is unlikely to occur. However, in this case, the surface on which the gel was applied must be washed with a large amount of water.
- Storage - Do not use after the expiry date written on the package. Store at temperatures below 25°C, in the original packaging. Keep out of reach of children.
