SUMMARY
TSH is a thyroid-stimulating hormone produced by the pituitary gland, which stimulates the thyroid gland to produce and secrete thyroid hormones (thyroxine T4 and triiodothyronine T3). The pituitary gland increases TSH secretion in response to lower thyroid hormone levels. Reduced secretion of TSH occurs with an excess of thyroid hormones. Therefore, the regulation of TSH secretion is based on the principle of negative feedback with thyroid hormones. When free thyroxine (fT4) and triiodothyronine (fT3) are low, TSH levels are high. Conversely, high fT4 and high fT3 cause low TSH levels. Determining the level of TSH in the blood is a basic test that allows you to check whether the thyroid gland is working properly. Therefore, the concentration of TSH should be measured in hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, as well as as a control of thyroid hormone replacement therapy, especially in hypothyroidism. Low TSH levels are linked to hyperthyroidism, the characteristic symptoms of which include excessive nervousness, irritability, feeling hot, sleep problems, diarrhea and increased blood pressure. An elevated TSH level indicates hypothyroidism, whose characteristic symptoms include fatigue, sleepiness, weakness, excess weight, constipation, increased hair loss, or depression.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
1. HOW THE TSH HORMONE TEST WORKS
The test detects the level of the hormone TSH in a blood sample taken from a finger. A positive test result means that the level of the TSH hormone in the blood is above normal (5 IU/ml).
An elevated TSH level indicates hypothyroidism, whose characteristic symptoms include fatigue, sleepiness, weakness, excess weight, depressed mood, or irregular menstrual cycles.
2. WHEN WILL THE TEST BE DONE?
The clinical use of TSH measurement is useful in the diagnosis of hypothyroidism. The HORMON TSH test is a useful tool for monitoring elevated TSH levels in the blood. It is not recommended to perform the test in the case of treatment with thyroid hormones. The TSH HORMONE TEST can be performed at any time.
3. WHAT WILL YOU LOOK FOR WHEN YOU TAKE THE TEST?
Test results obtained depend on compliance with the instructions contained in the instructions for use. If the test strip gets wet or the wrong amount of blood sample or reagent is used, the test result may be incorrect. The capillary pipette included in the test kit facilitates the collection of the appropriate blood sample. It is recommended to consult the results with your doctor.
4. WHAT DOES A DIFFERENCE IN COLOR OR INTENSITY OF THE LINES IN THE READING WINDOW MEAN?
The color and intensity of the lines in the T test field are not important for the interpretation of the result. The lines must be uniform and clearly visible. The test should be considered positive regardless of the color intensity of the test line.
5. IS THE RESULT READ AFTER 20 MINUTES RELIABLE?
The result read after 20 minutes is not reliable. The result should be read 10 minutes after adding the reagent.
6. HOW TO FOLLOW UP IF A POSITIVE RESULT?
If the test result is positive, it means that the level of the TSH hormone in the blood is higher than 5 IU/ml, it is recommended to consult a doctor to initiate the appropriate therapy.
7. HOW TO PROCEED IN CASE OF A NEGATIVE RESULT?
If the test result is negative, it means that the TSH hormone level in the blood is less than 5 IU/ml. In case of a negative result and concomitant symptoms such as heart palpitations, feeling hot, excessive nervousness, weight loss and increased blood pressure, it is recommended to consult your doctor.
