Target species: cats
Treatment of mixed roundworm and tapeworm infections in cats caused by:
- adult stages of roundworms: Toxocara cati (syn. mystax)
- adult stages of mosses: Ancylostoma tubaeforme, Ancylostoma braziliense
- tapeworm: Echinococcus multilocularis, Dipylidium caninum, Hydatigera (Taenia) taeniaeformis, Mesocestoides spp., Joyeuxiella pasqualei
Mode of use
Dosage: 5 mg/kg bw praziquantel and 20 mg/kg bw. base weight of pyrantel (57.5 mg/kg body weight of pyrantel embonate). This dose corresponds to 1 tablet per 4 kg of weight. weight
1.0 - 2.0 kg - 1/2 tablets 2.1 - 4.0 kg - 1 tablet 4.1 - 6.0 kg - 1 and a half tablets 6.1 - 8.0 kg - 2 tablets
Cats weighing less than 1 kg should not be treated with this medicine as the correct dose cannot be obtained.
Mode of administration: Oral administration. The tablets can be administered directly or in a small amount of food if necessary. Duration of treatment: A single treatment.
Warning: During a roundworm infestation, complete eradication of the parasites is unlikely, especially in cats, so the risk of human infection remains even after treatment. Therefore, it is recommended to deworm cats repeatedly with an appropriate drug at an interval of 14 days for 2-3 weeks after weaning. Do not use in case of known hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the auxiliary substances of the medicine. The safety of this veterinary medicinal product has not been established during pregnancy. This medicine should not be used during pregnancy, but can be used during breastfeeding. Do not use concurrently with piperazine, as the specific effect of piperazine (parasite neuromuscular paralysis) may antagonize the effect of pyrantel (parasite spastic paralysis).
