Caffetin Duo, 500 mg/200 mg, 10 tablets, Alkaloid
Indications:
Your medicine is called Caffetin DUO 500 mg/200 mg film-coated tablets (referred to as Caffetin DUO throughout this leaflet).
This medicine contains two active substances: ibuprofen and paracetamol.
Ibuprofen belongs to a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), which work by reducing pain, reducing inflammation and lowering fever.
Paracetamol is a pain reliever that works in a different way to ibuprofen to reduce pain and fever.
Caffetin DUO is used for the short-term treatment of moderate pain associated with headache (other than migraine), back pain, menstrual pain, dental pain, rheumatic and muscle pain, cold and flu, sore throat and fever. This medicine it is particularly suitable for pain that requires stronger analgesia than ibuprofen or paracetamol alone.
If after 3 days you do not feel better or if you feel worse, you should see a doctor.
Contraindications:
Do not take Caffetin DUO:
- if you are allergic to ibuprofen, paracetamol or any of the other components of this medicine.
Precautions:
Before taking Caffetin DUO, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding:
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Do not take this medicine if you are in the last 3 months of pregnancy, as it may harm the fetus.
It can cause kidney and heart damage in the fetus. It may influence the bleeding tendency of you and the fetus and may delay or prolong labour.
Do not take this medicine during the first 6 months of pregnancy unless your doctor advises you otherwise. From the 20th week of pregnancy, Caffetin DUO may cause kidney problems in the fetus if taken for more than a few days, which may lead to low levels of amniotic fluid surrounding the fetus (oligoamnios) or narrowing of a blood vessel ( ductus arteriosus) from the child's myocardium.
If you need treatment for more than a few days, your doctor may recommend additional monitoring.
Caffetin DUO can make it more difficult to get pregnant.
Ibuprofen belongs to a group of drugs that can affect fertility in women.
This effect is reversible after discontinuation of the drug.
You should tell your doctor if you are planning to become pregnant or have difficulty becoming pregnant.
Driving and using machines:
Caffetin DUO may cause dizziness, drowsiness, tiredness and visual disturbances in some people.
These effects should be taken into account if a high state of alertness is required, for example when driving vehicles.
Be careful when driving or using machines until you know how this medicine affects you.
Mode of administration:
Adults: Take 1 tablet with food or water up to three times a day. Leave at least 6 hours between doses.
If one tablet does not control the symptoms then you can take a maximum of 2 tablets up to three times a day.
Do not take more than six tablets in 24 hours (equivalent to paracetamol 3000 mg, ibuprofen 1200 mg per day).
If you have liver or kidney disease or are elderly your doctor will tell you the correct dose to take and this will be the lowest possible dose.
Use in children and adolescents:
Not for use in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
Mode of administration:
Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose. If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember, and then take the next dose at least 6 hours later.
If you have any further questions about the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Duration of treatment:
You should not use Caffetin DUO for more than 3 days.
If your symptoms worsen or persist, seek medical advice.
Composition:
- The active substances are ibuprofen and paracetamol.
- The other components are:
Tablet core: corn starch, povidone E1201, croscarmellose sodium E468, microcrystalline cellulose E460, colloidal anhydrous silicon dioxide E551, glycerol dibehenate E471.
Covering film: white Opadry (partially hydrolyzed polyvinyl alcohol, talc, titanium dioxide, glycerol monocaprylocaprate, sodium lauryl sulfate).
