Bixtonim, 10 ml, Biofarm

Bixtonim is a topical nasal decongestant containing ephedrine hydrochloride, hydrocortisone, naphazoline hydrochloride and is intended for use in adults, adolescents and children over 3 years of age.

Bixtonym is used:

• in acute and subacute rhinitis
• allergic rhinitis
• postoperative edema of the nasal mucosa.

Composition:

100 g of solution contain 0.500 g of ephedrine hydrochloride; hydrocortisone 0.020 g, naphazoline hydrochloride 0.100 g and excipients: sodium chloride, sodium methiolate, ethanol, purified water.

Contraindications:

• Hypersensitivity to ephedrine hydrochloride, hydrocortisone, naphazoline hydrochloride or any of the excipients
• Risk of angle-closure glaucoma
• Risk of urinary retention related to urethro-prostatic disorders.
• Do not administer to children under 3 years of age.

Administration method:

• Adults: 2-3 drops in both nostrils, 3-4 times a day
• Children over 3 years: 1-2 drops 3-4 times a day
• The duration of treatment should not exceed 3 days.

Side effects:

• Bixtonim nasal drops are generally well tolerated, it does not cause unpleasant sensations or irritation
• Administered at short intervals, it can cause tachyphylaxis, that is, the progressive diminution of the effect, until the disappearance of the response to the drug.

Precautions:

Due to its vasoconstrictive alpha-sympathomimetic activity and systemic passage, caution is recommended in case of hypertension, heart diseases, hyperthyroidism.

Interactions:

Nasal decongestants with naphazoline may cause high blood pressure if used during MAOI treatment.

Special warnings:

Ability to drive vehicles or use machines:

• Bixtonim does not affect the ability to drive or use machines.

Warnings for athletes.

• The medicine contains ephedrine which can result in a positive anti-doping test.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding:

• Since there is no data to demonstrate the safety of the product during pregnancy or lactation, the product will be administered to pregnant and lactating women only if absolutely necessary, as directed by the doctor.

No case of overdose has been reported.

Do not use after the expiry date written on the packaging.

Store at temperatures below 25°C, in the original packaging.

Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
